The Quality aged Care Action Group Inc. (QACAG) was established in 2005 by community members to raise awareness about the care of older people. QACAG became incorporated in 2007. It now has a growing network of members across Australia taking action for positive change in aged care.
About us
QACAG is a grassroots community action group with a growing membership across Australia. We lobby for high quality aged care in all settings, including residential and home care. We are an INDEPENDENT voice for older people and their advocates and our membership does not include aged care providers or their representatives.
We believe quality aged care is intrinsically linked to the provision of safe staffing. Including good numbers of well-skilled and educated registered nurses, enrolled nurses and assistants in nursing/personal care workers. We also believe it is vital that people caring for their loved ones in their own home have the support to enable people to remain at home for as long as possible.
The provision of inclusive and culturally appropriate care is at the heart of our advocacy work. We recognise First Nations Peoples and culturally and linguistically diverse older people and their communities, as well as LGBTQIA+ communities are particularly disadvantaged within the aged care system.
In addition to individual members, we welcome like-minded organisations to join as organisational members. Contact us to join.
QACAG is an organisational member of the NSW Aged Care Roundtable. We contributed to the development and consumer testing of the ’10 Questions to Ask’ series of consumer-facing resources for people seeking aged care. You can access the resources here.
